Local commander to be ANG advisor to AMC

Col. Andy Halter, commander of the 139th Maintenance Group, will be working for Air Mobility Command (AMC) at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., starting Oct 1, 2015.

Halter has accepted a 17 month tour with AMC and will be working as an Air National Guard advisor to the director of logistics, installations, and security at AMC.

Halter has been the maintenance group commander for the past six years.

"Hopefully I can help the C-130 community with its modernization and future," said Halter.
Halter has 35 years of service with the Missouri Air National Guard.

"You will rarely finish your career where you began," said Halter who started his Air Guard career as a communications and navigation specialist in avionics. "You will have opportunities, doors will open, and you will continue to move through out your career."

Col. Gordon Meyer, commander of the 139th Mission Support Group, will be the acting maintenance group commander until Halter returns.
