Tactics school hosts first combined combat planning council

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. --  The Advanced Airlift Tactics Training Center (AATTC) hosts the first ever combined Combat Planning Council (CPC) with 4th Air Force and 22nd Air Force on May 5-9, 2014, at Rosecrans Air National Guard Base, St. Joseph, Mo.

The three day event brought together 105 tacticians including aircrew, intelligence, and aeromedical evacuation personnel from Air Force Reserve Command Head Quarters (AFRC HQ), the two numbered Air Forces, Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Test Center (AATC), and AATTC staff.

The CPC prioritizes and allocates training and equipment requirements for modernizing the fleet.

"The purpose is to get all of our tacticians together to talk about what capabilities we need on our aircraft, along with training requirements in order to become more efficient," said Col. Nuckolls, 22nd AF chief of staff.

Airmen divided up into their respective airframes to form working groups. The groups prioritized critical items that will then be submitted for National Guard and Reserve Equipment Appropriation (NGREA) funding.

"This is an opportunity for the young airmen that are out in the field, captains and majors that are actually in the war zones fighting, to tell us what they need for equipment that will help save lives," said Col. William Rolocut, HQ AFRC A3.

Airmen represented six different airframes including the C-130H, C-130J, KC-135, C-17, C-5, and C-40.

Col. Bobby Oates, AATTC commander, said this type of networking opportunity provides an excellent cross flow of ideas and information.

"The Combined 22nd AF and 4th AF CPC here in St. Joe was a great success. It brought together over 100 tacticians from the AFRC and HQ staff providing an awesome opportunity of a cross tell of information," said Oates.

Oates said the CPC will be hosted in St. Joseph again next year.
