"I like to keep myself busy," said Airman 1st Class Erin Self who joined the Air National Guard in 2012.

Self joined the 139th Airlift Wing in late 2014 as a services specialist.  Currently, she is a fitness assistant and has experience as a cook from her earlier service right out of high school with the 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City, Iowa.

Self is studying pre-law at the University of Missouri Kansas City with a near-minor in Spanish, and she is aiming for law school once her undergraduate work is complete.

"I would like to be fluent in another language," said Self. "It is tough; you really have to stay after it."

Self's civilian occupation is as a legal assistant and she has previous experience as a legislative intern for U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley's office in Des Moines, Iowa.

Self is married and enjoys watching online streaming TV in her downtime.  After she settles into her law career, she hopes to travel and see the world.
