Staff Sgt. Brittany Waybright, a maintenance management production specialist assigned to the 139th Maintenance Group, recently became the vice president of the Junior Enlisted Council at Rosecrans Air National Guard Base.

She joined the Missouri Air National Guard in 2010 when her uncle, Maj. Tom Orth recommended it as a way to help pay for college tuition.

Waybright earned her undergraduate degree in psychology and went on to earn a master's degree in occupational therapy.

When not planning and scheduling the maintenance of aircraft at Rosecrans, Waybright is helping children develop social skills at an infant development center in Kansas.

On top of that, she started an adaptive swimming lesson program at a local YMCA. The program is designed for children with disabilities.

Waybright says the JEC intends to focus on professional development this year; everything from showing airmen how to apply for the Community College of the Air Force to providing mock promotion board interviews to members.
