Walking the Walk Published April 27, 2009 By Tech. Sgt. Rhonda Brown 139th Public Affairs 4 April, 2009 -- Comrades of Senior Master Sgt. Craig Phillips of the 139th Missouri Air National Guard showed their support of the National Alliance for Mental Illness, by contributing $500 as he participated in a walk-a-thon on March 31 in Sierra Vista, AZ.. Phillips became interested in the need for mental illness awareness after speaking with Dianna Bellinger, executive director of NAMI. Their discussion spurred Phillips to launch a recycling program this past year in Sierra Vista, generating proceeds to benefit the local chapter of NAMI. NAMI is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families impacted by mental illnesses. Funds raised are used to cover the costs of the programs and services they offer free of charge to their local community, such as the NAMI self-help library.
