  Talk about feeling appreciated.
Brig. Gen. Steve Danner, the state's adjutant general, dropped by Rosecrans May 28 bearing more than the usual gifts of "Thanks" and "Job Well Done."
Danner told an audience of assembled Missouri Air Guard and more than 50 state civilian employees that his top appropriations request for Congress was second phase of funding for the new fire station at the base. That announcement brought a cheer from the assembled crowd.
When completed, the new fire station will reside on the north side of the base near the Air Traffic Control squadron building, continuing a long-term effort to move base facilities to less flood-prone areas.
The base's facilities were inundated with several feet of water during historic flooding in 1993, and have dodged a few flooding bullets since then.
The first phase of funding for the construction of roads and utilities for the project was approved in December.
Several state employees were recognized with longevity pins. They were Dana Schuster and Jimmy Graves for 30 years; Terry Reid, 20 years; and Al Hart, 15 years.
