Activation of new comptroller flight Published Feb. 15, 2011 By 2Lt. Rhonda Brown 139th Airlift Wing ST. JOSEPH, MO. -- Members of the Missouri Air National Guard observed the activation of the 139th Airlift Wing, Comptroller Flight, February 5, at Rosecrans. The flight has been established to provide critical decision support and financial services to the wing and its members. During a formal ceremony, Maj James Treu assumed command of the newly activated flight, receiving his flight's new flag from Col. Michael McEnulty, 139th Airlift Wing Commander. "I am extremely proud to have a new commander who embodies all of the core values," said McEnulty. Treu began his military career attending Officers Training School after graduating college. He served on active duty and in the reserves collectively for 15 years. For the past seven years, he has been a member of the 139th. He graduated with Academic Excellence from the Basic Finance Management Officer course and has job-shadowing and Budget Course under his belt. Treu has conducted two Financial Management Boards for the wing. Although Treu is new to the military's financial field, he has a doctorate in political science and history, is a certified public accountant and has a background in logistics. He is armed with a good amount of finance experience in the civilian world. Treu is charged with commanding a flight of 14 military members and overseeing the local budget worth tens of millions of dollars. "I am so blessed to have a group of talented and dedicated folks," Treu said.
