The 139th Airlift Wing hosted U.S. military ambassadors for Panama at Rosecrans Air National Guard Base here Sept. 27 as part of the Missouri Guard's continuing State Partnership Program.

Army Col. Greg Barrack and Navy Capt. Renee Finch, with the Office of Defense Cooperation in Panama, were escorted by Army Maj. Gen. Stephen L. Danner, Missouri adjutant general, as part of a multi-day, state-wide visit to gain familiarization with the Missouri Guard.

The Missouri Guard's partnership with Panama is among 65 other National Guard Bureau global partnerships developed through the states and territories.

The State Partnership Program is praised by the nation's top military leaders and elected officials for relationships that enhance "global security, understanding and cooperation."

"Things you are doing are having a direct impact," Barrack told the group.

The dignitaries took a "windshield" tour of Rosecrans in the midst of its efforts to remove sand barriers and return to regular on-base operations after the Missouri River flood this summer.

After their drive, the group stopped at the Advanced Airlift Tactics Training Center here to discuss each other's missions.

Several Airmen spoke of their experiences in Panama on partnership missions for humanitarian and joint military exchanges.

Danner said that the Missouri Guard has a lot it can bring to the table through the state partnership program.

"There is just so much that Missouri has to offer to Panama for partnering in expert exchanges that General Danner thought it best if we came to see for ourselves," said Finch.
