A cold, wet Tuesday afternoon didn't stop Santa from visiting some children on Dec. 13.

Airmen from the 139th Airlift Wing teamed up with the local community to bring Christmas to the Noyes Home for Children in St. Joseph, Mo.

Combined with local businesses, Guardmembers raised $1,100 to buy gifts for nine children at the Noyes Home. Gifts included everything from shoes to video games. The money also bought pizza for the kids.

"It's humbling to see this need in our community," said Master Sgt. Susan McGarry, 139th Operations Support Flight deputy airfield manager. "It's very touching to the heart."

The 139th Fire Department also brought their fire truck for the kids to see.

"It's great, they love it. They were jumping up and down," said Stephanie Murphy, Noyes Home administrative assistant. "For them to see the military here gives them an additional member of society to look up to, somebody else taking care of them."
