Wing gets Frye for enlisted Airmen Published Jan. 5, 2013 By Master Sgt. Mike R. Smith 139th Airlift Wing JOSEPH, MO. -- A Chief Master Sergeant with more than 24 years of service in aircrew life support and equipment here will oversee all enlisted Airmen at Rosecrans Air National Guard Base. Chief Master Sgt. Mark A. Frye was appointed Command Chief of the 139th Airlift Wing at a morning ceremony Jan. 5 in an aircraft hangar. In his position, Frye advises the base commander on all matters affecting training, utilization, health, morale and welfare of more than 800 enlisted Airmen. "It's a great responsibility, I and look forward working with all Airmen," said Frye. He added that he plans to attend roll calls across the Wing as a part of his position. "I have the utmost confidence in Chief Frye," said Col. Michael Pankau, Wing commander, who thanked Frye's family for "sharing him." Frye was born in Rawlings, Wyo. He graduated from St. Joseph Central High School in 1976. He enlisted in 1988 as an Aircrew Life Support Specialist at the 139th Airlift Wing. He was selected into the Air Guard's federal technician program in 1993 as a life support technician. Frye's last assignment was Chief of Aircrew Flight Equipment for the 139th Operations Support Squadron. His service includes numerous deployments in support of Operations Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. Frye takes over after Chief Master Sgt. Gaila Sullivan served in the position for seven years. Sullivan was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for her accomplishments. "I want to thank Chief Sullivan for her years of dedication and service to the Wing," said Frye.
