ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The upcoming Sound of Speed Airshow and 139th Airlift Wing Open House on Sept. 14-15, 2024 in St. Joseph, Missouri is set to feature a much-anticipated reunion of two seasoned announcers, BJ Richardson and Erin Hupp, who will work together once again to provide commentary for the event. Both have extensive experience in aviation announcing, having previously collaborated on numerous air shows over the last decade.
Richardson’s two sons served at the 139th Airlift Wing giving him a direct connection to both the 139th and aviation. Meanwhile Hupp has direct connections to the St. Joseph community. She is a Missouri Western State University graduate and received her pilot’s license through Express Flight at Rosecrans Memorial Airport.
When asked what his favorite airplane is, Richardson said. “I really love the C-130. It's such a versatile aviation platform…of course, I love the fast flyers too, but who doesn't. I really love anything that flies.”
Richardson and Hupp’s partnership is known for technical knowledge of aircraft and aviation history with the ability to engage the audience with a clear, energetic delivery.
“This one's always been a really special one for me, just because I’m able to go back and announce at that place where I got my license, and you guys put on a heck of a show,” said Hupp. “The hospitality there is incredible, everyone always takes great care of us, and the lineup is always incredible as well.”
Their reunion promises to add a familiar and professional touch to the event, ensuring it will be both memorable and informative for all who attend.
