Leadership from the 139th Airlift Wing announced Lt. Col. Jason Horn as the new commander of the 139th Medical Group on Dec. 1, 2020.

As the medical group’s commander, Horn will be responsible for the ensuring the medical readiness of the wing’s 1,100 Airmen.

“We make sure everyone is healthy so they can perform their jobs,” said Horn. “We serve the entire wing.”

Between the active duty Air Force and Missouri Air National Guard, Horn has served in the military for 32 years. He began his military career as a C-130 Hercules aircraft loadmaster, and his previous assignment was deputy commander of the 139th Maintenance Group.

“Jason's connection to our community and long-standing advocacy to the St. Joseph area will serve him well in his new position,” said Col. Ed Black, 139th Airlift Wing commander.

Col. Kevin Echterling was the previous 139th Medical Group commander. He retired in September.

An assumption of command ceremony will be scheduled at a later date.
