Whether a deployment or separating from service, Airmen encounter a wide range of life circumstances that require making financial decisions.

Since February, Randy Gerard, a personal financial counselor assigned to Rosecrans, has met with hundreds of Airmen to discuss financial planning. Topics range from the blended retirement system to changes in the tax law to debt management. And it’s free for all service members.

“My role is an educator and facilitator so I can help them make informed decisions,” said Gerard. “This is totally confidential. I don’t keep any records.”

Gerard’s services are not just limited to Rosecrans. He can meet with service members anywhere within a 50 mile radius of the base.

Gerard conducts monthly meetings at Rosecrans where he discusses different topics related to financial planning. He has also attended roll calls for different squadrons on drill weekends to inform Airmen about his services.

“I don’t care what’s happened in the past or where you’re at financially, I want them comfortable speaking with me,” he said.

Gerard can be reached in person at the 139th Airman and Family Readiness Program office or at (537) 415-6934 or PFC.rosecrans.ang@zeiders.com
