ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- Airmen with the 139th Security Forces Squadron, Missouri Air National Guard, traveled to Fort Riley, Kan., for a live-fire machine gun training exercise.
The annual live-fire machine gun training was conducted June 5-10, at Fort Riley.
Combat arms instructors from the 139th, trained 31 of their personnel, including support staff. In addition, two instructors from the 190th SFS from the Kansas Air National Guard, were trained during the exercise.
During the week of training, they had the opportunity to use the M2 .50-caliber machine gun, Mark 19 40 mm grenade machine gun, M240B machine gun, M249 light machine gun and the M203 40mm grenade launcher.
A total of 14,000 pounds of ammunition were transported and 43,349 rounds of ammunition fired.
The six qualified combat arms instructors of the 139th, have received requests from the active duty Air Force to qualify their instructors in the weapons systems.
