4 April, 2009 -- The Missouri National Guard's adjutant general, Brig. Gen. Stephen Danner, toured Rosecrans Air National Guard Base, St. Joseph, Mo., April 1.
Danner spent his visit conversing with Airmen and civilians who are employed by the base as well as discussing issues facing the unit with Col. Stephen Cotter, commander of the 139th Airlift Wing.
"The goal is to continue expansion of the base while enhancing operations and capabilities," said Danner.
During his visit, Danner also took the time to dine with his public affairs team consisting of Airmen, Soldiers and civilian unit public affairs representatives. The joint public affairs team was attending an annual public affairs conference hosted by the 139th Airlift Wing.
Danner addressed the state's public affairs team on the need to develop effective methods to convey the Guard's story.
"We've got to get better information out about what we do, because most people just don't know," said Danner. "Your mission is to get our voice to the people."
Danner also promoted Tech. Sgt. Shannon P R. Bond, multimedia manager of the 139th Airlift Wing, Public Affairs, to master sergeant with the help of Bond's father George, who was a surprise visitor.
