The 139th Airlift Wing surpassed its recruiting and retention goals for Fiscal Year 2011, said its managers here today.

The Recruiting Office closed its books for 2011 with 94 enlistments for the fiscal year, or 102 percent of its recruiting goal. Of those, 36 enlistees were prior service members and 58 were new recruits.

Adding to their success, recruiter Tech. Sgt. Matthew Price was also announced as top production recruiter for the Missouri National Guard. He recruited 38 new members to the Wing.

Master Sgt. Brian Malchose, Recruiting Office supervisor, said the Wing's shops also did a good job of letting his team know the exact vacancies they have through their monthly reports.

"Everyone always participates in that very well, and that's the biggest success in my mind ... having a valid vacancy listing," said Malchose.

The Retention Office reported that the Wing retained nearly 95 percent of its Airmen, which surpassed its goal of 92 percent.

The office credits their success to the Wing's atmosphere.

"It's the best unit in the whole Air National Guard," said Master Sgt. Russell Streich, Retention Office manager. "You won't find a better place."
