The 139th Airlift Wing hosted a change of command ceremony for its mission support group at Rosecrans Air National Guard Base on January 5, 2019, in the Newlon Hangar.

Col. Gordon Meyer, former commander of the 139th Mission Support Group, relinquished command to Lt. Col. Mark Ruehter, former deputy commander of the MSG.

Meyer currently works at the Missouri Air National Guard headquarters in Jefferson City. Thus far, Meyer has served 36 years in the United States Air National Guard.

“You are all without a doubt a part of an outstanding Wing,” said Meyer to the mission support group during the ceremony.

Ruehter assumes command of the 139th Mission Support Group after previously holding the position of deputy commander of the MSG.

As commander, Reuther will be overseeing operations of new base development across Rosecrans. That includes the construction of new facilities as well as upgrades to present buildings.

The 139th Mission Support Group is made up of various support units including civil engineering, firefighting, contracting, security, communications, logistics, environmental, human resources, emergency management, services, and the family readiness program.
