139th Airlift Wing formed a group where individuals can get together to share a common interest: bicycling.

The group is lead by Master Sgt. Kent Harms, 139th Airlift Wing, human resource manager, and Capt. Nicolas Kahler, 180th Airlift Squadron, mission planning support officer.

Harms, an experienced cyclist, participated in two Register's Annual Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) and preparing for his third that is scheduled in mid-July.

"My hope is to put together our own base camp at the 139th and participate in RAGBRAI next year," said Harms.

Register's Annual Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) is a non-competitive bicycle ride across the state of Iowa that draws recreational riders from across the United States and overseas.

There are about 25 enthusiasts that are part of the 139th bicycle group. It is open to interested members whether full time or traditional Guard members.

"All that is required is a bicycle and helmet," said Harms.

Interested members may contact Master Sgt. Kent Harms at 236-3393 or Capt. Nicolas Kahler at 236-3465.
