A Company Grade Officer Council (CGOC) is being formed at the 139th Airlift Wing to mentor future and current company grade officers.

Officials said the recent effort will provide members a unique opportunity to interact with Wing leadership and showcase their own leadership skills.

A CGOC is an organized network of junior officers, O-1 through O-3, working together to promote the four pillars of Professional Development, Base Support, Community Service and Esprit-de-corps, said Capt. Allen Bear, who is helping to form the Council.

Bear said he is one of several officers who see an opportunity to develop high-quality junior officers through the Council.

Bear said the Council will mentor future candidates, hone writing skills, promote professional military education and instill Core Values.

"The first goal is to get approval of the Council by wing leadership," said Bear. "We are very excited to get started."
