AATTC holds change of command ceremony

Col. Barrett Golden, vice commandant of the Advanced Airlift Tactics Training Center, was named the center’s commandant during a change of command ceremony on Sept. 10, 2021 at Rosecrans Air National Guard.

As commandant, he will oversee the school’s training for mobility air forces from the Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve Command, Air Mobility Command, Air Combat Command, Air Force Special Operations Command, U.S. Marine Corps, and 16 allied nations.

Golden started his military career in the California Air National Guard in 1999. He transferred to the AATTC in 2011 as a member of the Air Force Reserve. In 2019, he joined the Missouri Air National Guard as the commander of the 139th Operation Support Squadron.

The outgoing commandant, Col. DeAnna Franks, who is part of the Air Force Reserve, accepted the position of operations group commander at the 302nd Airlift Wing at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado. That unit that flies the Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System C-130 Hercules aircraft.

The AATTC functions as a clearinghouse for gathering and disseminating airlift tactics information to some 500 students per year. The school is comprised of approximately 80 personnel from the U.S. Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve.
